The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with over 190 members with a connection to Sweden. Swedish businesses have a long-standing relationship with Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Our Policy Work

Channelling issues in the right forum

SwedCham Hong Kong continuously seeks to understand and channel issues in legislation, policy, and other areas of importance in the right forum. SwedCham is working closely with the other members of Team Sweden in Hong Kong, as well as the European Chamber of Commerce and other international Chambers of Commerce to address these issues.

Business Climate Survey

The Business Climate Survey (BCS) has been carried out in Hong Kong since 1997. Since a couple of years, the BCS is conducted in cooperation with Team Sweden (the Consulate General of Sweden, Business Sweden and SwedCham). The purpose of the survey is to increase the understanding of the opportunities and challenges that the Hong Kong market holds for Swedish companies. In addition, it serves as a useful reference in the bilateral trade dialogue between Sweden and Hong Kong.

Green Transition: Calling for Sustainable Development to be Given Top Priority in Hong Kong

The HKSAR Government has introduced new initiatives to advance Hong Kong’s green transition and sustainability. Green development remains a key focus in the CE’s policy address, the updated climate action plan, and the reorganization of the Environment and Ecology Bureau. The Sustainability Committee of SwedCham supports these efforts and urges stronger implementation. Read the position paper (PDF)

Green Recovery: Calling for a Green Dimension to Drive Sustainable Growth in Hong Kong

In response to COVID-19’s economic impact, the Hong Kong SAR Government provided HKD 311.5 billion in relief measures across various sectors. The Sustainability Committee of SwedCham acknowledged these efforts but urged the Government to leverage the recovery to drive sustainability and strengthen Hong Kong’s resilience. Two-Way Mentorship (Pilot Program)

A 3-month mentorship initiative bridging experience with new perspectives across the Hong Kong-Swedish business community. Designed as a reciprocal exchange, mentees gain strategic career guidance and local market insights, while mentors gain fresh perspectives on modern leadership, tech, and emerging trends. The initiative features flexible 1-on-1 sessions alongside dedicated Kick-off and Closing events.

  • 3 Months: October to December 2026
  • Meetings: flexible 1-on-1 sessions
  • 2 Events: Kick-off & Closing Event
  • Around 6 to 8 hours over the course of 3 months
  • Mentors pay HKD 500 to cover their & the mentee’s costs for the coffee or drink costs at Helen’s or another café.

Intern Scholarships

Each year, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce offers a limited number of recent graduates (or current students) to work and be part of the day-to-day activities at the Chamber. There are a few different intakes, where the selected candidates receive scholarships from different participating universities and organizations.

Scholarship Fund For Swedish Youth Abroad

The Scholarship Fund for Swedish Youth Abroad (Stipendiefonden för Svensk Utlandsungdom) announces a scholarship for a recent or upcoming Swedish graduate from a university in Sweden. The scholarship allows a young professional to work at the office of SwedCham HK for 12 months. Application time: Open until 10 October. Requirements: University graduate, under 30 years old, Swedish citizen. How to apply

The School of Business, Economics & Law Scholarship Foundation

The School of Business, Economics & Law at the University of Gothenburg announces a scholarship for a young creative business-minded student at the School of Business, Economics & Law at Göteborgs Universitet in Sweden. The length of the scholarship is 12 months. Application time: December to January (closed). Requirements: Full time student or recent graduate at the School of Business, Economics & Law at Gothenburg University; Swedish citizen. How to apply

Gull & Stellan Ljungbergs Stiftelse

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, together with Gull och Stellan Ljungbergs Stiftelse, announces a 12-month scholarship for a young, driven professional with a strong connection to Trollhättan or Uddevalla. The scholarship begins in summer 2026 and is based at the chamber office in Hong Kong. Application time: January to February (closed). Requirements: Connection to Uddevalla or Trollhättan. Studies Grant

Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong Scholarship

Uppsala University proudly awards students scholarships annually, covering a part of the tuition fee for one academic year of studies at Uppsala University (for either a master’s or bachelor’s program). The requirement is that the student should hold a valid passport from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and apply to become a full-time student at one of Uppsala University’s Bachelor’s or Master’s programmes.
